Interior and exterior refurbishment in Jávea Complete renovation of the interior and exterior of a high-quality family home in Jávea, Costa Blanca

A couple of entrepreneurs contacted our architecture, interior design and project management studio Hoffmann Wehr to commission us with a project: to convert a finca into their refuge, where they could relax and live in harmony when they were not travelling for work. A functional home, comfortable to live in, that would allow the family to develop and adapt to the different needs of the moment. Therefore, our studio got down to work to convert this old country estate into a home.

Our team found an old-fashioned house in poor condition and in need of a complete renovation. With our sights set on the future, we sought to design a residential dwelling that was committed to sustainability, guaranteeing the greatest comfort for its future users. More than spaces, we sought to create a place that would improve the quality of life and that its owners could establish their habitual home here, for themselves and their children.

The use of natural materials can be found all around the house: clay, lime, silicate paint, wood and we ended up with hand-painted tiles, bards, original tosca stone, treated pine woodwork... And if there is one thing we really like, it is to use all the typical materials of our Mediterranean area to maintain tradition in the new homes of the local area. We wanted to maintain the essence of our studio in this project.

If we talk about the interior design, it was a theme that we developed together with the opinion and tastes of our clients. We wanted to give it a casual touch with light tones and with a real protagonist... Natural light! And we can see from the images that this home is designed to make the most of natural light, accompanied by bright colours that brighten up the spaces.

As for the furnishing of the house, the choice of the elements with the aesthetics and essence of the house, with light tones and high-quality furniture to ensure comfort. Special attention is paid to the combination of natural materials that integrate the house with high quality and sustainable natural furniture. All around the house there are star elements with bright colours, such as the lamp in the living room or the yellow elements in the kitchen, which make the atmosphere not only sophisticated, but also have a fun and innovative air.

It was also important to achieve a good amount of storage space in all the rooms of the house, which we achieved by integrating large built-in wardrobes that organise the space, as well as baskets and many other elements... Because storage elements don't have to be boring, they can also serve as decorative elements and create a fantastic space!

The technology of the high-temperature air-to-water heat pump house that uses the energy of the outside air for heating was ideal for this renovation, as it allowed us to work with the type of iron radiators that the clients wanted and helps us to collaborate with the sustainable system we were looking for.

The design, development, planning and landscape management for this home required excellent work from our team. The exteriors were redesigned, integrating the vegetation as an element of the house. Existing plants and trees adapt beautifully to the house, creating green areas where silence, peace and tranquillity can be enjoyed. A Mediterranean design approach for exteriors focused on sustainability, with K-Line aluminium exterior carpentry that meets the energy efficiency and safety requirements demanded by the clients.

And the magic touch of this house... The porches! These magnificent porches... Covered terraces in the traditional Mediterranean style, made up of large spaces that help us to enjoy the good weather outdoors and provide us with a truly special space for leisure and relaxation, especially if we take into account that this house is south-facing. We could not waste this space! And speaking of leisure spaces... What about the outdoor barbecue area? We can't think of a better way to create gatherings with friends and family. A spring and summer dream.
